Bible stories to fall asleep to

Bible sleep stories for adults

Calm, faithful retellings of Scripture, read slowly so you can close your eyes and listen. There are 34 stories in Bible Bedtimes, from Creation to the road to Emmaus, and three of them are free.

Many people find it easier to fall asleep listening than reading. A Bible sleep story gives your mind something good to rest on: a familiar account, told at a gentle pace, with no cliffhangers and nothing to stay awake for. Each story below is built around a passage you can look up and read for yourself.

Questions

What is a Bible sleep story?

A Bible sleep story is a calm, unhurried retelling of a passage of Scripture, read in a soft voice at a slow pace so you can listen with your eyes closed and drift off. It stays with the Bible account rather than inventing new plots.

Are Bible sleep stories for adults or children?

The stories in Bible Bedtimes are written for adults and families winding down together. They are gentle enough for anyone, but the pace and language are designed for grown-up listeners.

Can I listen to Bible sleep stories for free?

Yes. Three complete stories are free in the Bible Bedtimes app: Genesis — Creation and Eden, Joseph — The Coat and the Promise, Jesus Calms the Storm. The rest of the 34-story library is part of the optional Premium subscription, and you can hear a two-minute sample of any story first.

Is there a sleep timer?

Yes. The app has a sleep timer so the story can stop on its own once you have fallen asleep.

Can I listen offline?

Premium members can download story audio to listen without a connection, which is useful if you keep your phone in airplane mode overnight.
